Phonics 101 Course

EME 6208: Distance Learning
Spring 2022

This artifact is a Phonics 101 course that I designed along with 3 fellow colleagues on how to teach introductory phonics skills to beginning learners. The course was completely designed and developed ourselves and was based on applying theoretical knowledge and technical skills to create a real-life setting learning experience. â€‹

For the Phonics 101 Course our group designed and developed a 4-course Module. Each module consisted of an introduction to the phonics skill, an exercise/practice assignment, a class discussion, and an assessment.

My portion of the project was Module 2: Letter Sounds (Phonemes) in Phonics which focused on teaching adults the basic skills needed to teach letter sounds to their children/students.

This distance learning course demonstrates my ability to create instructional design products based on learning principles and researach-based practices. â€‹

S.3.2

CVC Blending Lesson

EME 6208: Interactive Media
Fall 2021

This artifact is a lesson plan I developed for Interactive Media. For this assignment we had to design and develop a lesson plan using the online program Panapto.

The requirements for the lesson were as follows:

  • Between 4-5 Minutes Long

  • Include Audio Captions

  • Include at Least 1 Quiz Question

  • Present Myself on Camera

df

For this assignment I chose to create a phonics lesson plan on blending sounds.

This lesson demonstrates my ability to make professionally sound decisions in selecting appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal learning conditions for learning based on principles, theories, and effective practices.

S.3.3

Motivational Design

EME 6419: Motivational Design
Summer 2022

This artifact is a final research design paper based on Kellers ARCS model (2010).

This final paper is comprised of 5 sections:

  1. Motivational Problems - describe and identify motivational problems in the context of my workplace and the nature of work responsibilites.

  2. Literature Review- write a literature review on motivational theories and models that support my motivational design case.

  3. Suggested Motivational Interventions- Present a motivational design project based on the 10 steps of sytematic motivational design process.

  4. Implementation Timeline- Discuss how I plant to implement the developed motivational strategies/tactics.

  5. Evaluation of Motivational Interventions/Strategies- based on my implementation plan, present how I will know if the motivational strategies/tactis were effective to solve the motivational problems discussed in my paper.

For this assignment I chose to focus on the Motivational Design problems within MOOC's  such as the Phonics 101 Course I developed for Distance Learning.

This paper demonstrates my ability to use multiple assessment strategies collect data for informing decisions to improve instructional practices, learner outcomes, and the learning environment.
